Q:
What exactly is
Window Shield?
A:
Window Shield is an extra thick, super
tough, Polyester film, which is bonded to your existing windows
and glass doors (with a special adhesive) to make them impact
resistant. It was originally developed for bomb blasts in Northern
Ireland and is installed on all Federal Offices (or will be soon), and U.S. Embassies, for
protection against terrorist attacks. It is currently used on
residential, and commercial, properties throughout the United
States, and around the world, especially in hurricane, tornado,
and earthquake prone areas.
Q: I
already own hurricane shutters, so I don't need Window Shield.
Right?
A:
We agree hurricane shutters are usually good
protection during a hurricane. However, none of us go through the
bother of installing our shutters for tropical storms (where winds
can be over 50 miles per hour, carrying flying debris). It was
reported after Hurricane Andrew, many hurricane shutters failed
allowing devastating water and wind damage to occur.
Nor do you have warning, or time, to install shutters for
unexpected tornadoes, or large thunderstorms which can occur
during the night, or early mornings hours, while you and your
family are sound asleep.
And no matter how safe a neighborhood we live in, no home is
immune to break-ins.
Q:
Is Window Shield expensive?
A:
Window Shield is more than cost effective
for several reasons. Because Window Shield is applied directly to
your existing windows and glass doors it costs less than half of
what it would to replace them with new impact windows and doors.
And since Window Shield blocks up to 63% of solar heat, you really
do save on your energy bill each month. In addition by blocking up
to 99% of UV rays, the money you save from premature fading of
your window dressings, home furnishings, carpets/rugs, artwork is
substantial.
It is the only protection that pays for itself.
Q:
Where has this
product been installed?
A:
The United States government has been
installing it on all their buildings such as the J. Edgar Hoover
FBI Headquarters, FEMA Headquarters, the Pentagon, U.S. Embassies
worldwide, etc. Corporations such as Marriott Hotels, Wells Fargo,
Bank of America, hospitals (such as Holy Cross in Ft. Lauderdale,
Fl.), to name a few. And the list keeps getting bigger every day.
You have probably driven by many homes, condos and offices in your
town/city who are protected and never knew because it truly is
security and
hurricane protection you can see through.
Q:
Can I apply Window
Shield myself?
A:
Yes. We are currently in the process of
developing a do-it-yourself instructional and product
package which can be shipped through out the United States and
worldwide.
